Chimney closure set up to D=250mm
Chimney closure set up to D=250mm
If a stove is moved, the existing chimney hole (approx. 250 mm) must be closed cleanly and professionally. Professional means that it must be carried out in such a way that there is no draft resistance inside and no possibility for fly ash to accumulate. The closure must be very smooth on the inside and flush with the rest of the chimney.
This is not so easy! But how can you proceed?
Chimney connections can be closed cleanly using the chimney closure set. The cardboard roll is fixed inside the chimney with the rubber bands and the fixing rods.
The repair mortar can then be carefully layered onto the cardboard. Make sure there is a proper connection to the hole sides. If your hole is larger than the cardboard used here (310 × 310 mm), choose the larger closure set with 390 × 390 mm.
Look at the sequence of images for clarity:
-
A chimney opening that needs to be closed. Inside the clay tube, which must be closed smoothly and flush.
- First, the cardboard roll is inserted into the round clay tube. Of course, the cardboard roll must be larger than the hole so that there are no gaps. You can choose from 3 different sizes.
- The cardboard roll is brought into the correct position using the attached rubber rings.
-
The cardboard roll can be held in the desired position using the long fixing rods.
- Now carefully begin layering the repair mortar step by step.
Then some insulation and a suitable slab made of firebrick, for example, is attached above it for final closure.
The chimney can then be cleaned or painted as usual.
What is included in the set?
- Cardboard tube 310 × 310 × 5 mm
- 2 rubber rings

What should you pay attention to?
